Bio

The founder of Moonmade, Ebru Rato, is an architect who has always been fond of art and design. She is from Istanbul where she studied architecture urban design. After living and working many years as an architect in Belgium and Turkey, she moved to Portugal in the end of 2021. She continues to design for Moonmade and grow with it as well as her architectural journey.

Her interest in paper and origami started to get more serious in 2010. She was influenced by the connection between origami and design as well as the ability of creating three dimensional forms from a simple and recycable material. She loves to imagine new projects, to abstract one of her greatest source of inspiration ‘nature’ by the use of paper, to test with new colors, textures and forms as well as creating objects that make their users happy .
